Media theory
One media theory that my partner and I were looking at the most was the reception theory (Stuart Hall). This theory focuses on how different audiences consume the same media in different ways. Instead of one correct meaning, the audience could create their own thoughts and spin from it based on background, personal experiences, and own personal emotions. This media theory fits my partner, and I’s project because of the different ways the audience could pick up the main character, the “chef”. To start off, mystery is created since the chef is going to be faceless, lots of different views and ideas could be picked up from this detail. Also, some details are unexplained like pills, overflowing alcohol and blood from unknown people. This could definitely create different ideas from the audience on what is actually happening and what is wrong with the chef. I think this theory goes perfect with our film opening because the audience's ideas and opinions could differ on how they view the film opening.
